Our Achievement Awards celebrate faculty and staff who have shown a commitment to enhancing the University experience of their peers, students, and the greater community. Each year, through their efforts, there are a number of individuals who go above and beyond to advance the University’s mission, provide exceptional service, and make a significant impact.

Carolyn Tuohy Impact on Public Policy Award

The Carolyn Tuohy Impact on Public Policy Award recognizes excellence in teaching, research and the impact of scholarship on public policy.

Chancellor’s Award

The Chancellor’s Award grants a prize of $1,000. It is comprised of two categories: the Emerging Leader Award for early to mid-career administrative staff and the Influential Leader Award for a senior administrative staff member.

Excellence Through Innovation Award

The Excellence Through Innovation Award celebrates the significant efforts of individuals and teams to advance the University’s strategic objectives and provide an opportunity to share these best practices across the University. Awards receptions are held at the president’s home.

Faculty Award

The Faculty Award recognizes excellence in teaching, research and professional endeavours.

Green Ribbon Award

The Green Ribbon Award recognizes outstanding contributions of our community members and University partners who have made our campus greener. These green leaders have contributed to a sustainable culture on campus and inspire others to adopt environmentally conscious behaviours.

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) Recognition Award

The IDERD Recognition Award recognizes students, staff and faculty who have contributed outstanding work in an effort to eliminate racial discrimination throughout the U of T community in support of our overall commitment to diversity, equity and excellence.

Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award

The Joan E. Foley Quality of Student Experience Award is given to a student, alum, administrative staff or faculty member who has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of academic or extracurricular student life on campus.

Ludwik & Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize

The  Ludwik & Estelle Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize recognizes positive and lasting contributions to education and the fight against discrimination. The award is presented to a faculty, staff or student member who has made a positive and lasting contribution to supporting the University’s mission to realize an exemplary degree of equity and diversity.

Northrop Frye Awards

The Northrop Frye Awards are given to a faculty member, department or division, recognizing distinguished achievements in linking teaching and research.

Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) Staff Excellence Awards

The OISE Staff Excellence Awards are intended for supporting frontline administrative staff, including United Steelworkers (USW) employees, Confidentials, and Professional Managers (PM) 1 to 5.

Simcoe Hall Vice-Presidential Staff Award

The Simcoe Hall Vice-Presidential Staff Award celebrates outstanding staff members who have made contributions to their division or to the broader University above and beyond their job description.

Staff IMPACT Award

Aligned with the core values set out in the Faculty’s 2011 to 2016 Strategic Academic Plan, the Staff IMPACT Awards program honours staff whose work and dedication have helped to make the Faculty of Medicine the celebrated school that it is today.

True Blue Award

The True Blue Award honours U of T faculty and staff who make invaluable, every day contributions to the University. They are often the unsung heroes of the institution and embody the true-blue spirit of the University of Toronto.

Vivek Goel Faculty Citizenship Award

The Vivek Goel Faculty Citizenship Award is given to a faculty member who has served the University’s academic mission with distinction in multiple leadership capacities, including committees, governance bodies and external organizations.

University Operations Annual Staff Achievement Awards

The annual University Operations Staff Achievement Awards program is presented to an individual staff member (regardless of length of service), involved in any area of staff work, who has made outstanding contributions that go beyond the ordinary fulfillment of the position’s duties.
